Hi, I am Celine. I learned making sails the traditional way; without using a computer program or laser-cutter. At the loft we specialize in tallships, schooners, clippers, botters, flatbottoms etc. Anything big, traditional and with a lot of handwork!

In 2023 I opened up sail loft Steekje Los after an apprenticeship at a sailmaker in Zaandam. I have a bachelor degree in cultural heritage with a focus on heritage in public spaces and I studied Humanistics at the University of Humanistics in Utrecht. In 2019 I started living on a small sailboat - a fellowship 27 named Sasla - my current home to this day. My interest in sailing has never disappeared and after four years of sailing around, I decided to throw myself into sail making. Practicing this craft is a wonderful combination between my interest in history, preserving historic ships, traditions and crafts and studying and applying modern techniques. Throughout my studies, I have always been concerned with questions about the meaning of life. I am beyond grateful to have found work that gives me joy in life and moves me forward! There is an endless amount of learning in this field of sailmaking. It has already taken me to so many beautiful places, it has so many secrets, so many details, so much history. Sailmaking is so much more than just a job. I'm fascinated!
